Use Dental Benefits Prior to Year End

Dental insurance is a great benefit, but there are some people who do not use all or any of their dental benefits. Dental benefits allow you to keep your mouth healthy without spending a fortune in out of pocket expenses. Using dental benefits before year end promotes a healthy smile and ensures your benefits will not go to waste.

Dental Health

Most serious dental problems can be avoided with regular cleanings. Many dental plans offer complete coverage for cleanings and other preventative care. Preventative oral care can prevent painful tooth decay and expensive procedures in the future. For individuals who already have some minor dental concerns, a trip to the dentist can correct those problems before they become something more serious.

Wasted Money

Dental benefits do not rollover to the following year. Once the year ends, the benefits expire. That is money you could have used on necessary dental procedures and preventative care. You are paying a premium for a reason, so use dental benefits before they expire. In addition to the benefits restarting each year, the deductible will restart too. Choosing to see a dentist now will allow you more dental work before your deductible renews.

Next Year Changes

Insurance coverage is constantly changing. Just because your plan looks one way this year, doesn't mean it will look the same next year. Premiums, copays and deductibles could increase, and benefits could decrease. If you have benefits through work, they may even drop the dental insurance completely. Any oral procedures you might be putting off until later may not be covered next year.

Ways to Use Dental Benefits

Using your dental benefits is easy. There is so much you can do for your smile and oral health, so it is important to see a dentist and find out what areas you need repaired or improved. Common dental procedures that may be covered wholly or partially by insurance are:

  • Routine examinations and cleanings
  • Sealants
  • Fillings
  • Crowns/Bridge/Implants
  • Periodontics
  • Root Canal
  • Invisalign

With so many services that may be covered by your insurance, it is a waste to not use your dental benefits before the end of the year. Dental insurance can lead to great oral health, but only if you use it. By choosing to use your benefits before the end of the year, you avoid wasting money and ensuring your mouth is clean and healthy.

You may be wondering which services are covered by your dental plan or how much you have available. A simple phone call to your insurance company will answer those questions.
